Certified Meter Testing - Life Cycle Cost Analysis and Return On Investment (ROI)

National Metering Services, Inc. provides a Certified Meter Testing Plan for total system upgrades and replacement programs.

All meters changed would be bench tested at our facility for accuracy at the 3 flow rate, approved and recommended by the American Water Works Association (A.W.W.A).

High Flow (15 gpm) and Intermediate Flow (2 gpm) and Low Flow (1/4 gpm)

This plan will verify meter readings and serial numbers of changed meters.

The meter test results are entered into an MS Excel database indicating: Date, meter #, meter reading, address of origin, size and test result. The new meter test data from the meter manufacturers test tag is also entered into the database. The old meter test results are compared to the new meter test results and the percentage of accuracy difference is calculated.

The total meter installation project payback can be accurately determined by identifying the losses through exit testing and calculated labor savings (meter reading, billing, etc.) as a result of the new AMR meter system.

Water authorities can project the anticipated revenue increase by utilizing this data. Additionally, accounting for water previously lost throughout the system due to under registration of the old water meters is identified.

Water department personnel can address customer complaints more efficiently. Test results can be referenced to show the accuracy of the old meter.

All meters will be tested at National Metering Services' test facility in Kearny New Jersey.

Certified Meter Testing is not limited to system change replacement programs.

You can have any meter tested individually for accuracy or to resolve customer complaints of high bills.

National Metering Services, Inc. has had great success with certified meter testing programs for many municipalities and water authorities. A directory of towns and utilities where certified testing was introduced can be provided upon request.

If your meter system is on average older than 15 years old chances are you are losing up to 20% revenue due to under-registration of your water meters and labor costs reading and manually billing.

New meters are 100% accurate and pay for themselves in less than 5 years.
